The understanding and management of visual disorders (dristigata rogas) in Ayurveda revolves around the concept of "drishtipatala". This basic concept plays a pivotal role in facilitating both the diagnostic process and subsequent therapeutic interventions within the Ayurvedic framework. Nevertheless, the comprehension of this concept is not universally consistent, and significant disparities of perspective exist even among academicians and practitioners well-versed in Ayurveda. The origins of divergent viewpoints can be ascribed to the emergence of new information about the structural and functional aspects of the eye in both physiological and pathological states.

To develop a comprehensive and universally applicable perspective, Ayurveda experts must engage in discussions to resolve existing disparities. A particularly effective means of achieving this is through the analysis of real-world cases.

Consequently, a discussion focusing on the concept of "drishtipatala" is being initiated, with the intent of fostering a better understanding within the Ayurvedic community.
